Paul Wozencroft: Home is where the Art is
Paul Wozencroft began his oil painting journey whilst living in St Remy du Provence, a very picturesque small town in the south of France. The elements are very powerful in this area; blistering Summer days, fierce Mistral winds, beautiful coastlines and majestic mountains. The rainy storm season has to be experienced to be believed. Paul's strong, bold, work is influenced by many of these elements - water, air, wind and sound.
Paintbrushes are used along with palette knife, and sometimes a deconstructing technique.
From St Remy Paul then moved to the centre of Paris, sharing a gallery in the Marias district, an area associated with Fashion and the Arts.
Life has now brought him home to beautiful Broadstairs.
Paul told us that he likes to think of his work as “from the inside” or “from the outside” depending on the viewer's perspective. We are excited that Paul has selected Westgate Galleria & Studio to showcase his art in a UK gallery for the first time.
Home is where the Art is runs throughout April 2025, at 29 Station Road, CT88RB, alongside permanent displays by this gallery's resident group of Kent-based artists and makers. The venue is large, bright and airy, and accessible, located on the high street of the picturesque seaside resort Westgate-on-Sea, and near to the beach. It is open 10am to 5pm, Mondays to Saturdays. Entry is free.
Invitation: Paul will be hosting "a bit of a do" on Saturday 5th April to introduce himself and his work. All are very welcome to join us in the gallery between 2 and 4pm for drinks and an opportunity to view and chat with Paul about the bold and colourful paintings he has selected to include in this exhibition. All works will be available to purchase.
