Upcoming Blossom

Born and raised in Swansea, South Wales, Peter W Rushton is never without a creative thought. He is constantly inspired by what’s around him. Since leaving art school, over 40 years ago, his professional career and his love of painting and art have run in parallel. He started his career as a professional illustrator.  He worked as a Creative Director in some of the leading international Advertising Agencies whilst still painting for exhibitions and working on commissions.

Peter's best-loved mediums are oil and acrylics. He has a talent that enables him to explore many different styles. These vary from illustrative using an airbrush, to contemporary and abstract. All dependent on his mood at the time and other influences.

Peter comments on his life journey and his influences, “During my years in London, where I exhibited and also became a critic at private shows, the exposure to various subject matters and styles of art had a significant influence in my creative approach today. I love ‘Upcoming Blossom’ which I see, feel and experience.  I have always loved the unexpected.’”

Peter's exhibition Upcoming Blossom runs from 5th November to 2nd December 2021 and entry is free.  The Gallery is open Wednesdays to Sundays, 11am to 4pm. All work is available to purchase

This exhibition takes place alongside a display of contemporary art created by a group of local independent artists. They sell their original work in this shared retail gallery space. Works on show include figurative, expressive, plein air and abstract oil, acrylic and watercolour paintings.  The cover a wide variety of themes, pen and ink illustrations, traditional and digital photography, ceramics, jewellery, and mixed media pieces. A selection of prints and cards and postcards by local artists is also available.

The Eclectic Art Gallery is located in Margate's Old Town, near Turner Contemporary. The local area is a great venue for a day or weekend trip, in all seasons. See here for more detailsincluding travel directions.
