About The Eclectic Art Gallery

Located just a few minutes from the harbour, the beach, The Old Kent Market and The Turner Contemporary, The Eclectic Art Gallery has contributed to the development of Margate’s Old Town as a must-see cultural and creative venue for locals, visitors and tourists.

Established in 2016 by an artists’ collective, the gallery joined Shoreline’s portfolio in September 2019. It now provides an opportunity for a group of Kent-based fine artists and creatives to affordably exhibit and sell their work. Unframed prints, calendars, greetings and postcards are available alongside beautiful and original 2d and 3d art. Our artists exhibit in their signature styles and have freedom to experiment and collaborate too, working in a wide range of mediums, including painting in oils, watercolours and acrylics, ceramics, textiles, traditional and digital photography and jewellery.

We have regularly refreshed displays from our resident artists, who all regularly attend the gallery, and a Guest Wall that provides affordable opportunities for other established and emerging artists to exhibit in Margate and engage with their audiences. There is always something new to see in our intimate space, and someone knowledgeable to talk to about the art on display. We have new guest displays every month, sometimes more often. Join our mailing list from our home page or follow us on Social Media (see links in the footer) for news of all shows, and invitations to their private views.

Explore beyond the Piazza on the seafront to discover an eclectic and welcoming community of small independent businesses in the architecturally interesting and beautiful Old Town. Worthy of a wander during a visit to the area, our neighbours here include other galleries, cafés, tearooms, cakeshops, restaurants and bistros, independent boutiques selling clothes, accessories and homeware, bookshops, pubs and bars, studios, the Margate Museum and the Tudor House, and yes traditional fish and chips are on offer too, of course.

The Eclectic Art Gallery is in a beautiful location within the former Crown Chambers which also includes other creative retail outlets, the renowned Bottega Caruso Restaurant, and studios and living accommodation. The building was previously a solicitors’ office and before that a public house and hotel.
