Wintertide
An open call group exhibition, of
Art to brighten a Winter's day in Margate. Taking place in The Eclectic Art Gallery, in Kent's Margate Old Town in January and February 2023.
Invitation
We invite Artists to submit up to four pieces of small work (maximum size A3). Completed original art, framed or unframed, and ready for wall-hanging by the exhibition start date only please. We do not include works in progress, photographs and digital prints of original artwork in this open call. The artwork should not be on show elsewhere in Thanet for the three months running up to the exhibition. This is to provide its visitors with a unique and fresh viewing experience.
The exhibition will be on the guest wall in the gallery. This sits alongside walls and shelves of 2d and 3d work by the gallery's resident group of artists. We will change the display mid-way through the exhibition. A new selection will be put up for the second half. This will provide an exhibiting opportunity to more artists, and a fresh display for the gallery's regular visitors. The gallery is not large, hence the restriction on the size of works we can display during this exhibition.
The Eclectic Art Gallery has been an established venue for art and culture-loving visitors to Margate's Old Town since 2016. The resident group of artists staff it. Opening hours are 11am to 4pm for a minimum of five days a week, sometimes six, but not on Mondays. We use a Stas hanging system, which works best with d-rings. Wintertide's visitors will not be charged an entry fee.
