Jewellery stall at Margate Made

Apply for a stall-holders pitch

Thank you for your interest in hiring a pitch space to sell your work at our next Margate Made Makers’ Market Event, which, Covid-permitting, will be in Summer 2021. This page provides all the information you need to make a successful application, and should answer the most frequently asked questions we receive too. If you have any other questions you are welcome to contact us.

What can I sell?

Handmade arts and crafts only, and manufactured items in small quantities if they are made to your own design. Our visitors like to see original, unusual, different, unique, artisanal work. We do not accept bought-in items or multi-level marketing (MLM) company’s goods or services. Our aim is to have a diverse and well-balanced mix of high-quality arts and crafts represented, with minimal duplication of disciplines.

Who can sell?

We aim to work primarily with small independent artisan makers and creative business owners who are based in Thanet. We like to book a combination of returning stallholders, as well as artists, makers and creatives who are new to us, to help keep our events fresh and appealing for our visitors, and to help maintain our good reputation with the public and our usually high attendance figures.

We want to ensure as many locally-based creatives as possible have a pitch on the day, and will include makers who are new to selling, providing practical support if needed. Our established stallholders are a very friendly and supportive crowd, making it a safe space to try selling at for the first time.

It is not necessary to be working or living in Margate, our makers come from all around Thanet, and other parts of Kent too.

We may have room for creative and well-being services and suppliers, please contact us if you own this sort of business and are interested in participating in our upcoming event.

Application Process

Our events are usually over-subscribed, and we will need to curate a varied and balanced selection, so we are not able to guarantee a place to everyone who applies. Please don’t let this put you off – use the Application Form to tell us all about your work, your style, what’s different about what you design and make, as well as your practical requirements for tables, chairs, accessibility, etc, and send it in to us promptly, don’t wait until the deadline. Please do not send payment at this point.

Remember that our main focus when assessing applications is on creating an interesting, fun, and productive experience for our visitors, buyers and sellers at each and every event we run, so if you don’t get booked in at one event it’s always worth applying for another one.

The application form is a PDF. You can print this and fill it in by hand. You can then photograph or scan it and send it to us by email (as an attachment), or you can post it or bring it into us at Westgate Galleria. The form can also be filled in on your device if you have appropriate software. It then needs to be emailed to us (as an attachment). Keep a copy for your own records.

The PDF application form is compatible with assistive technology and we can also supply it as a Word document if needed, please contact us for that.

If you have not sold with us before you MUST also email us six representational images of your work (phone photos or online links are fine).

We will send out booking offers by email well in advance of the event, and will close to applications if we book in sufficient suitable numbers before the closing date.

Once you have received a booking offer email from us, please pay your pitch fee on time (see deadline in our email) by bank transfer or by card or cash at Westgate Galleria. Please note your booking is not confirmed until you have paid your pitch fee.

You will also need to send us a copy of your public liability insurance/food hygiene certificate(s). If these are not received on time, your place will be withdrawn and automatically offered to makers on our waiting list.

Pitch fees are refundable only if we cancel your booking. If you need to cancel it, please let us know promptly so we can allocate your space to the next suitable maker on the waiting list.
