Run an activity
Fun and free (or nearly-free) creative activities, demonstrations and have-a-go workshops are an integral part of a Margate Made Makers’ Day event. They embody our ethos of celebrating creativity, community and learning locally. They enable visitors to try out and appreciate the benefits of being ‘arty’ in a safe and supportive environment, to interact with creative people, and to learn new skills that they might not otherwise have the opportunity to engage with.
We can’t pay our activity leads, but we can guarantee you will have exposure to an interested and engaged audience, especially if your activity is family-friendly.
Activities we’ve hosted in the past include rock painting, bandana-making, shell decorating, massage, pottery, drawing, spirography, making bottle-maraca’s, story reading, sand-art, catapult-making, yoga, Christmas decorations, etc. Free make-and-take activities are always popular too, as is face-painting and anything around a nature or recycling theme. We are open to all suggestions and can assist with risk assessments where help is needed with that requirement. Sessions have ranged from 30 minutes to all day, bookable in advance or drop-in on the day.
We always aim to offer creative activities that are affordable for people to explore further after our events, in line with our belief that creativity is for everyone. We may be able to help cover the costs of materials if they would otherwise prohibit you running your activity.
It’s also an opportunity to meet with other people, network, make friends, and to gain experience at working at public events and teaching groups, especially useful for those wanting to develop their CV’s. It’s a great shopping experience too!
If you are interested in supporting Margate Made by running a creative activity at one or more of our events, or in sponsoring an activity, please contact us for a discussion and an application form.
