The Eclectic Art Gallery building

The Eclectic Art Gallery is in a beautiful location within Margate Old Town’s former Crown Chambers which also includes other creative retail outlets, the renowned Bottega Caruso Restaurant, and studios and living accommodation.

The building was previously a solicitors’ office and before that a public house and hotel, the original buildings dating back to 1776. The original stables for this building were round the corner in Love Lane (previously Puddle Dock) and many beautiful and historic features on the buildings still remain.

It has been captured in paintings, drawings and photographs over the years, some of which are reproduced here, with the kind permission of artists David Tovey and Sian Morgan, and the family of Christopher Alexander.
